Keep your belongings safe in the event of a warning:

  • If possible, park your vehicle in a garage. In the event of hail, the impacts can cause significant damage to the body of your vehicle.
  • Bring in your garden furniture and any items that may be damaged. If this is not possible, tie them down to prevent wind damage.

Get into good habits at home:

  • Unplug the antenna from your TV.
  • Kill the Power.
  • If you live on the ground floor or have a cellar, be prepared for possible flooding.

If you are caught in stormy weather whilst driving:

  • Turn off the engine and stay in your vehicle: the material from which the tyres are made insulates the cabin from lightning.
  • Do not grab or handle the metal surfaces of the car, even inside.
  • Follow the instructions of the authorities: roads may be inaccessible or diverted.
